Help... My Closet is A Mess!

Her Perspective Cover Blog2.jpg

I love fashion. One visit to my closet can verify my passion for expressing myself through clothing and shoes. While I absolutely love dressing up, I cannot stand going into my closet to select what to wear. I wish I could say, the closet is too small... but that wouldn’t be the truth. I just have way too much stuff. Sadly, there are items in my closet that I haven’t worn in years. They take up space... and serve no purpose other than creating clutter.

As a Mental Health advocate, I’ve come to realize that our emotions often resemble an overcrowded closet. There are deep rooted feelings inside us that negatively affect our current lives. Let’s be honest, we've all been hurt by someone we considered to be close, whether it's an insensitive word or an unexpected betrayal. Hurt is hurt... no matter the reason why it occurred. How you process the hurt determines if it will become emotional clutter. Emotions left “unchecked” will take up space in your heart and mind... serving no other purpose than to make you miserable.

Clearing the emotional clutter will create an environment for God to reveal His divine purpose for your life. We must be willing to remove the anger, fears or anything that seeks to drain us of our Faith. Make the decision to get rid of it... the thing(s) that takes up space and serves no positive purpose. Some of us can’t wait until Spring to clean out our closets, we must start the process today.
